Speechcrafters Graduation
August 2008
Wagga Wagga Toastmasters ran their first Speechcraft course throughout July and August. Ten Speechcrafters, all Hume Alliance employees, graduated on Wednesday 27 August. Spurred on by 21 guests including Toastmasters, nine Speechcrafters presented their fi nal tabletopics and speeches.
Coordinator and Area Governor Colin
Davis said the group had shown
tremendous growth in confi dence,
leadership and technique over the past
eight weeks.
“The Speachcrafters have learnt how to construct speeches, use vocal variety, body gestures and also how to properly introduce speakers,” said Colin. “The roles of Chairman, Timekeeper, Um- Ah Counter and Evaluator were all perfomed very well,” he added.
Colin thanked all the Toastmasters who encouraged amd mentored the Speechcrafters along the way.
“I don’t think they realised how much
they were also going to benefi t from the
Course and this will help them achieve
their own goals in Toastmasters.”
The WWTC has benefited financially from Speechcraft and monies are now available for many educational items as determined by the Club Executive.
“We started with no Club data,
borrowed from other Toastmaster Clubs
and District 70, and ended up with a
great bank of information that will make
it much easier for the next Speechcraft
Coordinator to run another course in the
future.“
