Silver tongues wag as competition heats up…
September 2007
Six members of Wagga Wagga Toastmasters will put their reputations on the line this week when they battle it out for the title of “Regional Table Topics Master”.
The war by words will take place this Tuesday night as part of the Club’s “Table Topics” competition, an annual event which sees finalists go through to the Monaro Division championships in Canberra later this year.
“Every year our Toastmasters rise to the challenge and this year will be no different,” commented Wagga Wagga Toastmasters President Peter Veerhuis. “A total of six members have put their names forward to compete this year so the judging panel will have their work cut out for them.”
Each of the competitors will be given the same topic and required to make a two minute impromptu speech. While nerves may get the better of some, the friendly rivalry always brings out the very best from the members.
“We have some very talented speakers who usually provide a great deal of entertainment for the members and their guests on the evening,” said Mr Veerhuis.
The contestants are all talented speakers from the city of Wagga Wagga each using this opportunity to showcase their skills and reach higher levels of speaking achievement.
The competition will be held at the Wagga Wagga Rules Club on Tuesday 11th September from 6:50 pm. Visitors and guests are welcome. For more information call Colin Davis on 02 6928 5519.
